Perhaps they’ve taken my advice from yesterday, but 20Twenty will soon be no more.
My first glance at the mail to all their clients led me to believe they were closing down (and hence the slightly misleading heading for this post), but luckily it’s just the branding that will change. 20Twenty will get rebranded as Standard & Chartered, their new owners. The full text of the mail below:
Hi Ian
This email is our future at a glance. It’s also the first chance I’ve
had to make contact with you since taking over as Head of Standard
Chartered’s Consumer Bank in South Africa. I wanted to let you know
exactly where we’re going. And how much we’re looking forward to you
continuing the journey with us.
Since joining hands and vision with Standard Chartered, we’ve had the
chance to see things from a whole new point of view. It’s given us the
chance to take a good long look at where we’re at – and where we should
be.
We believe that now is the perfect time to take the next logical [and
magical] step. We’re ready to take our vision of customer-connectedness
and fast forward it into the future. Merge the best of what’s been, with
the endless possibilities of what’s to come.
But the thing about committing to a single-minded purpose is that it
needs to be just that – pure and single. We need to speak one language.
Head in the same direction along a clear and distinct path. And so this
is it, where we redefine our journey.
To get there, and during the course of this year, we’re going to say
goodbye to 20twenty as a name – and continue to enjoy the world of
opportunities that comes with flying the Standard Chartered flag.
We’ll tap into powerful financial resources that span the planet. Under
a new banner but with the same trailblazing sense of mind.
This means that over the next 12 months, you’ll gradually be seeing less
orange on the outside. But no less orange-bloodedness on the inside.
It’s the same people, same approach to banking, same all-for-one values
and beliefs. Just bigger, wider-reaching and more able to impact your
life where it really counts.
Practically and financially speaking, nothing changes. You’ve already
been using Standard Chartered Bank as your bank name for deposits. And
your account number and line of credit won’t budge an inch. And in the
long-term, as an out-and-out member of the Standard Chartered family,
new doors will continue to open for you. We’ll continue the banking
revolution. Strength and stability guaranteed.
With so much on the go, we promise to keep you up to speed every step of
the way. Right now though, it’s banking as always. We’re not going
anywhere – except forward!
