I missed the news originally, but I’m quite pleased to see that HP are supporting Ubuntu Linux on some of their laptops. When buying a laptop here, HP and Toshiba were the only two that offered any Linux support (they offered to install it and promised it would work). What’s good about the new HP offering is the laptop will not include the price of a Windows licence, which makes the whole thing a lot more worthwhile (my Toshiba laptop included the Windows licence, like it or not).
However, they’re making the rather odd choice not to ship Ubuntu by default, rather FreeDOS. The offer is also not available in the US.
