After the excitement of seeing that South Africans have the privilege of paying money through Paypal, but not receiving money (and who says global capitalism is not one big sucking sound from the have nots to the haves), I’ve recently actually tried to use it.
I’ve tried a few times, at different times of the day, and on different days, and I find it one of the most dog slow sites I’ve ever come across. Reminds me of the early days with 2400 bit/s modems.
After much frustration, waiting, and hitting refresh, I finally find I can’t make the payment. The start limit of $100 is too small, and I have to apply to up this limit, then wait 3-4 days for a number to appear online in my credit card statement. Hah, with Nedbank I get to wait about a month for my next printed statement. The giant sucking now sounds more like a feeble whine, about as effective as my mother’s 20-year old Hoover.
At least you can ADD your credit card onto Paypal!!I tried a dozen times to add my Nedbank credit card and it kept telling me that my number is invalid or i’ve only entered a partial number….
I’m also having trouble with Nedbank. Although there is money in my account, the card keeps getting rejected as invalid. I also want to recieve small amounts of money from the 5000 visitors to my site, but it would appear we are living in a fascist state in which corporations want to clamp down on small ecommerce and sponsorship of causes such as Save Darfur and the Disabled Children’s Fund
