I noticed today that there are only 9 Zend certified developers in the country. Being a ZCE would definitely enhance most developer’s job prospects, but at $125, it’s not that cheap for individuals, especially those just starting out, where it would have the most impact.
Perhaps one of the conferences can arrange some low cost tests if there’s enough interest, just like has been done for the LPI cert.
I had a look to see how many South Africans are MySQL-certified, but that’s not listed on the site (you need to specifically request it, and none have).
Great Blog tool but why there is no option to require registeration to stop junk posting like this one?
The tool allows it, but I don’t use registration as it discourages comments 🙂
I dont get this thing…
Luckily I have lots of patience with dumb comments. If you hand-write a comment, no matter how inane, it’ll most likely stay. Hey, I may even answer. Spam gets deleted quite quickly though – I get a kick out of a ‘first report’ to b2evolution’s spam database.
Hi Ian,
Its an old post but I think that the certification isn’t that bad a cost and its a really certification to have to your name. They focus alot on security for web apps. I believe alot of developers and designers take this for granted or cut corners to save time (and money),
I am hoping to do mine soon 🙂
Cheers
