One of those compulsive and not particularly useful things I’ve wanted to do for a while was brush up on my knowledge of African geography. The intricacies of just which little strip in west Africa is named Benin, and which Togo and the like has eluded me. Until now. I came across a silly, but addictive online game, the Africa Geography game. Horrified by my first performance, I just had to compulsively play it until I got all the countries first time. And then move on to South America, Europe and the middle-east to do the same. Perhaps I’m not a better person for it, and I certainly don’t know anything more useful about Gabon than I did before, but I’ve successfully scratched another itch (and it was a lot easier than writing a book).
There’re also US, Canadian and Australian state versions, but those didn’t particular interest me.
A friend left me with this comment, to burst my bubble 🙂
Hi Ian,
I agree it is addictive. South America was the easiest, Middle East a lot harder (Europe won’t load for me) and Africa took a lot of quick learning.
Now, you go and ALSO fit
The Gambia
Lesotho
Djibouti
Guinea Bissau
Ruwanda
Cape Verde
Equatorial Guinea
Burundi
Sao Tome
Swaziland
and THEN we’ll talk….
Ute
So you’re Greenman from Muti right? I was wondering who that was for the longest time.
This is a very good blog to read and has been added to my RSS reader tonight. If you go to BarCamp, let us know the happenings.
